On work weekend duty, on a long three-day weekend. Still a great week of many achievements nonetheless.

The main website is down (again). This is making me nervous every single time I use the out-of-support Koken platform.

UPDATE: The issue appears to have been caused by the use of PHP 7.4 which has been deprecated. A quick fix for now but it’s only a matter of time before something eventually snap.

It’s good to see Instagram is useable on the desktop browser.

Just migrated this site from /blog to /notes. I think it’s an important distinction with the direction of where this is heading.

Currently thinking about getting DJI Mini 3 Pro to add to my arsenal of travel photo/cinema gear. I guess it’s about time to replace the original DJI Mavic Pro that I had purchased 6 years ago in 2017.

Keep your head in the clouds when it comes to your dreams, but keep your feet on the ground when it comes to the process.

This is something I constantly remind myself: to fill your life with experiences and not things; to have stories to tell, not stuff to show.

Came across this tweet by Adam Grant in the morning and it resonated deeply with me at work:

How quickly someone answers you is rarely a sign of how much they care about you. Delayed replies to emails, texts, and calls are often symptoms of being overwhelmed.

Unless it’s urgent, the true test of a relationship isn’t the speed of response. It’s the quality of attention.

At work, I’ve always felt bad about not replying or responding to e-mails quickly. For most of the time, I just hadn’t gone through the e-mails—and often I never got the chance to as my inbox is getting overwhelmed by the minute and my unreads are getting stacked and buried deeper.

Finally, someone said it—about having symptoms of being overwhelmed—and that it’s okay.

While I attempt to tinker with this “blog”, or what I’d like to call it now as “notes” as a replacement to my Twitter account, I’m also working to convert my main website front as my photo/journal archive which will eventually replace my Instagram account.

I guess I prefer to keep my own content self-hosted, rather than giving the rights to social media platforms.

Now that me and my wife have decided on the travel destination in February, I’m excited to start planning the trip. It’s going to be around 10 days of adventure of constant travel between cities every 2-3 days.

More work to be done with the site as it gradually transitions into this new, much simpler theme. The biggest problem being how to navigate the content better.

With a little bit of tinkering, posts from different sections are now separated by a line—the same goes with posts from different days. It’s not yet perfect, but it’s working.

In the Arrival movie, I realized the similarities to Dune: Part One — where the protagonists seeing visions of the future that connect to the present. After all, both of these movies were directed by Denis Villeneuve.

It’s ironic and paradoxical that you can be most efficient with completing tasks when you are too busy and don’t have time. When it’s important enough, you really can get things done quickly.

Had a flat tire on the rear right side of my Mazda MX-5 tonight while driving home after a dinner date with my wife. Very lucky to happen where I can safely maneuver to the road site and exit the road. The car doesn’t come with a spare tire. Towing truck came within the hour to pick up and send us back home.

UPDATE: it wasn’t a flat — my tire was ripped open!

11:20 AM

Today is my third day streak without coffee. I’m still alive.

Ghost seems to be a decent platform to migrate my photography portfolio to as an alternative to Koken—it is very unfortunate to see its demise. Only a matter of time before things starting to break and obliterate to oblivion.

With everything that’s going on with Twitter lately, it’s about time to start turning this website into a full-fledged microblog. This is something that I’ve always wanted to build anyway.
